Positive Sportsmanship
June 6th
Hi, Sharks,
A parent from the opponent team last Thursday reported to me that a few of our swimmers were chanting together “Cheater Cheater Cheater” to her 5-year-old boy who pulled himself across his lane along the rope. It was “Appalling and heartbreaking” to her she said. Her boy is only 5-year-old, and this was his first time for the meet.
Our coaches will talk to our swimmers today about the issue. Parents, please take a moment to share this information with our swimmers:
- Educate our swimmers to be respectful. Be humble when we win and congratulate our opponents when we lose. Support teammates and treat the other team with respect and never tease or bully.
- Please review the Parents Policies and Swimmers Policies (under Policies and resources). Direct our swimmers to do the right thing and follow the rules during the practices.
- Your supports are highly appreciated to build up a healthy team relationship. Thanks.
